I thought I’d take a stab at darker writing for sensory practice. I find that disturbing images leave such a long-lasting impression on an audience and always offer an interesting opportunity to play with the senses. I also wanted to reanimate an older character of mine whom I felt I have never truly gotten underneath the surface of. Aurora used to be an old role-playing character of mine from a futuristic game called Shadowrun. There are so many facets of this character that I have yet to show.

Aurora is an old favorite full of so many struggles of conscience, reason, and a very tension-filled past. The psychological dysfunction of this character is something I hope to delve into further if I keep working with this piece as I find there are not nearly enough characters who illustrate some of the higher psychological orders. What greater challenge for a writer than to animate a character that has a very serious illogical reasoning or a psychological disorder? The greater challenge comes with making a reader identify with the illogical, ‘anti-hero’ disposition of such a character. I thought it would be interesting to try.

I was a little hesitant to use this story for Creative Writing class as it is a little edgy and may be somewhat inappropriate, but I thought I'd test it out anyways.

I have to say I recognized the setting immediately, and found this piece nicely done too. Multitalented writer, but then I think I already was aware of that.
